Existing e-mail
When trying to enter an email address that already exists in the database, you may encounter the following error:
In Ploomes, the user's email address must be unique. This information is used for identification purposes on the platform and must, therefore, be unique.
To resolve this issue, there are two options:
If the email address is linked to another user on the same account, simply change the existing one to free up the desired address.
If this not possible, you can enter a fictitious email address, since no verification will be required for existing users.
⚠️ Although no verification is sent when updating a user's e-mail address, other communications, such as password recovery and other notifications, will be lost, since the e-mail address doesn’t exist.
To ensure that users receive messages at their e-mail address, you can create an "extension" of an existing e-mail address, allowing it to be added to the platform without conflicts.
Creating an e-mail extension
If the e-mail address you are trying to link to a specific user is already registered in Ploomes, you can adapt the e-mail address so that you can continue with the addition without affecting the receipt of platform-related updates.
This technique is also recommended when creating new users, as the e-mail address registered for the first time on the platform will receive a first-time access password; without it, the login will not be possible.
To avoid affecting the update of an existing user's e-mail address or the creation of a new one, we suggest adding an extension to the address using the '+' character followed by a word.
💡 For example, if the e-mail address test@test.com
already exists in Ploomes, use the address test+company@test.com
. Note that the '+company' part acts as an extension and will forward everything received to the original address.
